Modernized technology ecosystems and unified omnichannel experience
Evolved digital infrastructure and customer engagement channels, integrating legacy retail strengths with modern capabilities to elevate the customer journey across physical and online commerce.
🇪🇸 Español:
01. Problem
Large-scale retail must integrate decades of physical operations with digital, omnichannel demands. For Grupo Zaffari, legacy retail systems limited speed to deliver unified experiences across stores and digital channels. Fragmented architectures created friction across loyalty, promotions, and payments, preventing real-time consistency in the customer journey.
DB identified core constraints in tightly coupled systems, batch-driven processing, and limited API exposure. It defined a target architecture to decouple services, enable real-time transaction processing, and standardize omnichannel capabilities across digital and in-store touchpoints.
The approach preserved stability in core retail operations while introducing integration layers to support e-commerce, cashback, and loyalty platforms. It also addressed high transaction volumes by designing for peak-load handling without performance degradation. This foundation enables faster rollout of digital products while maintaining operational reliability and brand standards.

02. Assessment
DB determined that incremental system upgrades would not support Zaffari’s long-term digital strategy. It defined a transition to a decoupled architecture, enabling microservices to deliver independent, faster releases across customer-facing capabilities.
The assessment identified fragmented loyalty and transaction data as a key limitation. DB designed a unified data platform to enable real-time access across mobile, in-store, and e-commerce channels, ensuring consistency in promotions, payments, and customer interactions.
It also established the need for continuous product delivery through short, user-validated release cycles, supported by dedicated, multidisciplinary squads aligned with business domains.
Given the volume of financial and customer data, the model embedded application security (AppSec) practices across the development lifecycle. It also prioritized improvements in the mobile journey to increase engagement and conversion rates.
This approach repositioned technology from a support function to a core growth engine, enabling scalable digital expansion while preserving operational stability.

03. Solution
DB established a strategic delivery model combining agile squads with software architecture leadership. It modernized critical retail applications to increase stability and enable scalable digital operations across mobile and in-store channels.
The solution unified loyalty and transaction services, allowing customers to access benefits consistently across all touchpoints. It introduced API-based integration layers and microservices to support real-time processing of checkout transactions and rewards queries without latency.
DB accelerated mobile product delivery through agile development cycles, reducing time from planning to release. It optimized infrastructure to handle high transaction volumes and peak demand, while implementing cloud modernization practices to increase flexibility and control infrastructure costs.
The platform embedded DevSecOps controls across the software lifecycle, securing customer and payment data. In parallel, UX design improvements streamlined digital journeys to match the efficiency of in-store experiences.
Knowledge transfer between DB and Zaffari teams built internal capabilities and sustained product evolution. The result is a unified digital ecosystem that strengthens customer engagement and supports continuous expansion of retail services.
