Cloud modernization and data security to support record-breaking sales performance
Implemented cloud modernization and AppSec to ensure availability and security of critical platforms during massive traffic spikes.
01. Problem
Fashion retail operates under extreme demand volatility, especially during peak events such as Black Friday and Christmas. For Lojas Renner, the core challenge was sustaining massive concurrent traffic without degradation or downtime in its e-commerce platform. Legacy monolithic architectures created critical bottlenecks, limiting elastic scalability and real-time responsiveness under load.
Even short periods of downtime translated into significant revenue loss and brand impact. At the same time, increasing digital transactions elevated cybersecurity requirements for sensitive customer data and payment flows.
The existing infrastructure lacked the flexibility to rapidly deploy new features, slowing business execution and innovation cycles. It also drove inefficiencies through overprovisioned physical servers during low-demand periods.
DB identified the need to decouple core systems and adopt a cloud-native, digital-first architecture capable of dynamic scaling, real-time inventory synchronization, and secure high-volume transaction processing. This shift enabled both performance resilience during peak traffic and faster product delivery, positioning modernization as a strategic requirement for sustained growth and competitiveness.

02. Assessment
DB conducted a deep architectural assessment to identify system friction points and critical vulnerabilities. The technical diagnosis revealed a rigid infrastructure dependent on manual deployment processes, limiting elastic scalability and release velocity. Significant technical debt in the codebase constrained maintenance and slowed the delivery of new capabilities.
The absence of integrated application security (AppSec) introduced operational risk across the development lifecycle. Internal teams were largely absorbed by incident resolution, reducing capacity for strategic innovation.
DB identified the need to transition from on-premise infrastructure to a cloud-native architecture, enabling microservices-based decomposition so retail capabilities could evolve independently without impacting the entire system. Stress testing exposed insufficient API response times under load, falling short of target user experience standards.
The assessment also highlighted cost optimization opportunities through a pay-as-you-go infrastructure model and the need to deploy specialized agile squads with strong cloud engineering maturity to drive the transformation.

03. Solution
DB executed a comprehensive cloud modernization strategy, migrating critical applications to a scalable and resilient cloud environment. Multidisciplinary squads rebuilt the backend using a .NET-based microservices architecture, enabling independent services and faster deployment cycles.
The solution implemented autoscaling capabilities to dynamically adjust infrastructure capacity based on traffic demand, ensuring performance stability during peak events. AppSec and DevSecOps practices were embedded into the software lifecycle, strengthening platform security under high-load conditions.
A CI/CD pipeline enabled continuous testing and accelerated delivery of new features, significantly increasing release frequency. DB also optimized end-to-end performance across frontend and backend layers, prioritizing UX metrics and response times.
Rigorous load testing validated system readiness for high-impact seasonal peaks, while an outsourcing model provided immediate access to specialized engineering talent. The initiative also improved data governance, enabling seamless integration between physical and digital retail channels.
As a result, the technology stack evolved into a true business enabler, supporting record sales performance with stability, security, and scalability.
