Mother’s Day 2023

DB Mothers’ Testimonials

#Highlights
Mother’s Day 2023

Happy Mother’s Day!

We wish all mothers a special weekend filled with all the love they deserve. Not only this Sunday, but ALWAYS, we want every woman to be the mother and person she wishes to be in all environments. May motherhood not be a limitation, but rather a starting point for many adventures in both personal and professional life.

To celebrate this date, we carried out an internal initiative at DB. We asked all members of our team who are mothers to share testimonials reflecting on this unique and deeply meaningful experience in their lives.

The prompt was simple: “Share something no one told you about motherhood. And a piece of advice you wish you had received before, or simply an experience you would like to share with others.”

Thinking about the photo you shared, what does motherhood mean to you?

Janaina Palliano da Silva

Motherhood brought out in me thousands of other women I had no idea existed within me… the strong, determined, brave, responsible, sensitive, loving, understanding woman, among so many others. And paradoxically, I also discovered a fearful woman within me… fears that change with each stage of her life, like a video game with increasing levels of complexity. Today Malu is 20 years old, an incredible human being—polite, responsible, full of dreams and goals. And the fearful woman within me is still here… but I learned that the LOVE in the mother-child relationship is the fuel that helps overcome all fears so I can be the mother she needs and deserves.

Daniela da Silva Fernandes

The biggest challenge of motherhood is not knowing whether everything you are doing is enough for your heart outside your body… A mix of unconditional love and fear takes over when we become mothers. All we think about is doing everything possible so they do not suffer or experience pain, fighting bravely so they grow up knowing the support and love we can give them. Motherhood is a unique and indescribable feeling, full of love, fear, uncertainty, joy, pride, and a strength we don’t know where it comes from—but it is there. Whether by heart or by blood, a mother carries within her the purest form of love, and it is this love that strengthens us with every breath of our children.

Viviane Rezende Pessoa

During pregnancy, I read every possible book, watched every YouTube video, and even took a childbirth course that felt like military training! But nothing truly prepares you for the emotional rollercoaster of motherhood. I used to imagine my daughter’s future—whether she would become a CEO, an Olympic athlete, or even a diplomat. But after she was born, I realized that what truly matters is her happiness. That has been my daily mission ever since. Every smile, every hug, every achievement is a victory. Of course, there are days when I am completely exhausted and just want a few extra hours of sleep, but when I see my daughter Isadora’s beautiful smile, everything makes sense.

Juliana dos Santos Dias

Talking about motherhood could last for hours and hours. It has been 2 years since I became a mother, and since the discovery of my pregnancy, I have learned so much—after all, I am a mother of twins. Motherhood is absolutely unique; each mother experiences it in her own way. For me, it has been a mix of emotions, challenges, discoveries, and learning. I discovered that hours feel like years and years feel like minutes… that sleep is a luxury… that there is no greater love than for our children… and that sometimes even our best arguments are not enough. One of the main pieces of advice I received when returning from maternity leave was the importance of going back to work to reconnect with myself beyond being “just a mother,” and that this balance would help me navigate both identities. Of course, I also learned that “when a mother is born, so is guilt,” and we learn to live with it. Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers—being a mother is beautiful and extremely complex.

Luísa Martins dos Santos

Being a mother is a daily challenge. We become more careful and responsible, as we are responsible for another life besides our own. Sleep? Who needs it? It is much more exciting to stay awake all night with company during long nights!

LESSONS

Elivane Castoldi Diehl

If you ever felt alone or empty and didn’t know why, becoming a mother makes that feeling disappear, replaced by the greatest companionship of your life—created by you. Every day you notice physical and behavioral similarities, memories of your own childhood, and hopes for the future. Every day you feel gratitude for waking up and embracing your child, unable to imagine life without them.

Vivian Pedó

Motherhood brought me back to reality. It made me see the world in a truthful and realistic way, so I could translate it for a pure and simple human being. Priorities shift to what truly matters. Being a mother made me a better person and a better professional.

Layla Cardoso Lopes

For me, becoming a mother was truly the greatest gift of my life. My daughter is my treasure. In this photo, we were on vacation at the beach, representing our moments together. We enjoy every detail, no matter how simple. We talk, play, and learn together every day. Being a mother is not easy—we go through moments only we understand. Sleepless nights, worries, tantrums… but everything is a phase. The important thing is to enjoy the journey and rely on those who support us. Happy Mother’s Day!

Samira Geraissate Wanderley

Being a mother is learning all the time. It is living challenges and many joys—it feels like a rollercoaster.

Danielle Costa Saraiva

I learned to seek more simple moments of connection with the people I love.

Jane Macedo Eslabão

Before becoming a mother, I heard that breastfeeding was divine and wonderful. But no one said that before that moment there is a week of pain and suffering that feels endless. A week that feels like a year. It is not easy. But no one told me it would be brief and soon followed by the reward of breastfeeding without pain. I wish I had known that before.

ADVICE

Arissia Karen Correia de Paulo

Motherhood is a journey full of challenges, but it brings the greatest rewards in life.

Letícia Grachten dos Santos Melo

Experiencing motherhood is becoming a better person for the world. That is the feeling that has stayed with me since my daughter was born.

Graziela Brolese

No one prepares you for the emotional storm of your first child. No one prepares you for exhaustion, sleepless nights, guilt, or uncertainty. But no one prepares you for the incredible, indescribable love that is born with motherhood either. You discover the most beautiful scent in the world—your baby’s. It is not easy, we cry often, but the love makes everything worthwhile.

Adriane Reis Lisboa

Motherhood is a blessing from God, and we must always guide our children so they can walk their own paths in the future.

Thais Cardoso de Almeida

Time flies. Every difficult phase will pass, and another will come. Do not panic—it is normal. One day you realize your child knows things you didn’t even know. It is all cliché, but it is true: loving unconditionally despite exhaustion and challenges.
