Father’s Day 2023

We wish all fathers a meaningful and restorative weekend, filled with the recognition and love they deserve. Not only on this Sunday, but always, we want every father to be the person they aspire to be in all environments. Fatherhood should not be a limitation, but a starting point for many journeys in both personal and professional life.

To celebrate this date, we carried out an internal initiative at DB. We invited all team members who are fathers to share testimonials reflecting on this unique and important experience in their lives.

The request was simple: “Share what fatherhood means in your opinion.”

Cláudio Aurélio da Silva:

Being a father is challenging and rewarding, a mix of emotions where all our actions and thoughts are focused on doing our best for our children.

Elias Litvin Gendelmann:

Being a father means learning from our children how to become better every day, as Eduardo Galeano said: “We are what we do, but above all we are what we do to change what we are.”

Riguel Barbosa Figueiro:

Fatherhood is something indescribable, as it reveals new things about ourselves—strengths you didn’t know you had that grow through dedication to another person. A piece of advice: understand that your time is no longer fully your own 🙂

Diego Lau Balz:

You develop true multitasking skills. Nothing prepares you for the real multitasking of being a father. Beyond everyday tasks, you also take on caring for a child—putting them to sleep, bathing, preparing bottles, feeding, playing, giving attention, going for walks…

Gláucio Almeida:

Being a father is a divine calling to nurture, protect, inspire, and guide precious souls. It is difficult to fully grasp the responsibility of building a family. We must pursue self-awareness and continuous improvement to become a beacon of love, patience, and respect, guiding our children unconditionally through life.

Ederson Andrade da Silva:

Being a father is accepting unexpected invitations, being present in important moments, leading by example, and showing that family comes first.

Daniel Mafinski Biz:

Being a father is incredible—it teaches and surprises us with how much we learn. Simply being close to your child makes the day better.

Cesar Ortiz Lando:

Being a father is being a companion, friend, partner—playing, having fun, suffering through Inter games 😄—but also setting boundaries, showing the right path, protecting, and guiding. I realized that responsibilities increase, and you become a reference for someone in everything. You no longer think only about yourself. Being a father is wonderful. Juliana and Carolina, daddy loves you so much, my princesses!!!!!

Luiz Fernando Giese:

This photo represents to me the relationship between father and son—respect, care, and development. In this moment, I was in the ocean after a training session where my son was the coach and I was the student. During training, there was feedback that I should try harder, but also care to avoid injury. Afterwards, we celebrated the moment together.

I was always very organized, and when I found out I was going to be a father, I started reading about how to prepare—setting up the room, stroller, clothes for the hospital and after discharge, preparing everything to avoid last-minute stress. But I didn’t read the chapter that says everything can happen: my son was born in an emergency situation, and I didn’t have clothes with me because I couldn’t go home in time to get them…

After hearing so many times “You’ll understand when it’s your turn…” and “It’s hard, but it’s worth it…”, I can say that 2023 will never be like any other year in my life, as it has been transformative—it is shaping me into a father. As a song says: “I can’t wait to see you arrive, I can’t wait to hold you in my hands.” I’m counting the days to meet this little boy who, without even knowing it, is reshaping my life and showing me that fatherhood is not just about having a child, but about leaving a legacy. I wasn’t born a father, but through mistakes and learning, I know I will grow—and my son will be my greatest motivation to become better every day.

Lucas Pinheiro Flores:

In the photo, I’m with my daughter at Arena do Grêmio, wearing team jerseys and cheering. At the time, I was trying to convince her to support Grêmio, but her grandfather and mother influenced her toward the rival team. That’s how it goes! We raise our children to make their own choices, and today we joke with each other during derby days.
